WHAT ARE SILHOUETTES?

The importance of silhouettes in art lies in their ability to emphasize shapes and communicate powerful messages through minimalistic and visually striking forms, adding depth and symbolism to artistic compositions

REQUIRED MATERIALS
1. Magazines, newspapers, or printed images
2. Black/white cardstock
3. Scissors
4. Glue or glue sticks
5. Pencils and erasers
6. Black markers or fine-tip pens
7. White chalk or pastels (optional)

Contrast: The strong contrast between the silhouette shape and the background or surrounding elements

The movement was heavily influenced by psychoanalytic theories, particularly those of Sigmund Freud, and sought to challenge traditional notions of reality and logic.
